Discover Toronto's modernist side.

DWR Toronto Studio invites you to join us for a presentation about Toronto's modern architecture, given by Robert Moffatt, a writer and blogger who has a passion for architecture and his community. During the event, Moffatt will countdown the top 10 modern buildings in Toronto and speak about each selection. For more information about Moffatt and Toronto's modernist architecture, visit his blog Toronto Modern (robertmoffatt115.wordpress.com/), which documents the artistic and cultural legacy created by the city's leading architects from roughly 1935 through 1980. event - Shit happens in Berlin

"$H!T HAPPENS IN BERLIN"

A Berlin design exhibit curated by Juergen Mayer H.

Join us for the Toronto edition of "$H!T Happens in Berlin".

June 17 - July 8, 2011

365 Dupont Street

Launch event: June 17, 7-10PM

Music provided by JOHNNY HOCKIN of MTV & More Proof

RSVP: events@relative-space.com

Architect Juergen Mayer H., recipient of the Audi Urban Future Award and Relative Space principal Tyler Greenberg conceived of this event jointly. They invited a co-generational cross-section of designers, who in turn invited others to join in curating the objects for display. The exhibition will explore the aesthetic and technical innovations of creatives in the city, showcasing both emerging and established designers. The unexpected is the norm; trials and errors, miscalculations and failures, experimentation and surprise—all result in ingenious design strategies.

1. Dufferin Street Bridges

This study will determine how the bridges over the Gardiner Expressway and the Metrolinx/GO Transit rail corridor at Dufferin Street should be replaced. The preferred design will be presented at this second and final open house. The design follows the existing road alignment and will provide for the needs of all bridge users including pedestrians, cyclists, TTC, and motorists, in addition to GO Transit's planned expansion of the existing rail corridor.

2. New King-Liberty Pedestrian / Cyclist Link

This study will determine the location and design for a pedestrian/cyclist link across the CN/CP railway corridor between Atlantic Avenue and Strachan Avenue. Current design alternatives will be presented at this second open house.

3. Liberty Village New Street

This study will investigate the feasibility of constructing a new east-west street along the south end of Liberty Village. The new roadway would improve traffic circulation and provide community building opportunities in the area. This open house will present an introduction to the project.
